Boat Load of Summer Fruit Arrives at the Wooden Boat Festival

Cvita

FarmBoat debuts restored antique skiff for dockside market at Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival. The Cvita is a farm scow built in the 1930’s for beach seine (net) salmon fishing and ship to shore cargo transport along the shores of the Lower Columbia River. These types of vessels were often used by farmers to transport crops from the beach to waiting steamers.

Patrons gather to sample fresh local strawberries and cherries at the dock and learn about FarmBoat programs. The Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival is hosted by the Center for Wooden Boats. This year’s event is open to the public through July 4th weekend.
